Erna’s Gourmet conjures up rustic, stylish and delicious food in a small gourmet kitchen in South Delhi.
Started by Maya-Lisa Shanker in 2007, the kitchen is named after her grandmother Erna, who used to live in a tiny village in the lush green of the Austrian Alps. In an attempt to create her little Austria in India, Maya decided to serve Austrian, German and European food to Delhiites.
After storming Delhi’s party scene with Austrian and European delicacies with catering services, Erna’s Gourmet recently ventured out to reach also those foodies who are looking for delicious and healthy lunch options at home or at work.
Erna’s lunch meal menu is small and changes with the seasons. The menu includes European classics like Austrian Wienerschnitzel and Potato Salad and Italian Penne Arrabbiata as well as meals consisting of soups, main courses and side dishes. They have veg and chicken options.
Erna’s food is flavoured with herbs and made to age-old recipes modified to suit contemporary life-styles: fat contents is reduced in many recipes, the lunch meals keep a good balance between proteins and carbs.
The Chicken Wienerschnitzel is literally hammered into the right shape, then flavoured, covered with breadcrumbs and fried. The secret to the potato salad lies in procuring the right potatoes, boiling them to perfection and seasoning them with the right amount of vinegar and herbs.
The Arrabbiata sauce is made from fresh tomatoes, seasoned with lemon, chili and olive oil.
The Zucchini Soup (part of the current Weekly Lunch Menu) has a few special herbs to create a super-fresh flavour.
At Erna’s Gourmet, they have exotic options like salads made from Green Beans or Chicken Medaillons served with a fresh tomato sauce, Alpine style. They focus on using local and organic (wherever possible) ingredients to support the local economy.
Lunch meals are delivered from Monday to Saturday, deliveries will be done from 12 to 4pm. Deliveries take 1 to 2 hours to reach you.
